Twitter This from Joni Eareckson Tada

  • Monday, March 7, 2016

There are many reasons why ministry through social media is on the radar for these days. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn provide ministries and radio stations opportunities to focus their social efforts to share their story, cultivate relationships and open up two-way communication in ways never before possible.

Most importantly, social media provides one more key opportunity for ministries and radio stations alike to deepen relationships and engagement with listeners which prayerfully, opens doors for life changing messages.

The fact that there are 65 million Twitter users in the U.S. is one more motivator for ministries ...

Lessons from God's Word

  • Sunday, January 31, 2016

This weekend we kicked off Missions Week at my church. There's just something extra special when our home church family welcomes back missionary families and we're able to hear firsthand about the Kingdom work God has called them to on foreign land.

In my Sunday School, we heard from a couple called to serve in Ecuador.  As they shared about how God has stretched them in their trust and in His ability to use them, they also shared lessons they've learned along the way.  It's their real life stories that so deeply encouraged me.

Heart for the Disabled Week

  • Monday, January 11, 2016

On my nightstand is a ceramic heart a friend gave me with a little slip of paper inside.  On the paper, she wrote Matthew 6:21.

I keep the heart in this prominent spot to remind me to think about where I invest my time, energy and resources.  I want (and need) to be cognizant that where I make these investments is where my treasures are and, there is where my heart will be.

Intentionality at Christmas

  • Sunday, December 13, 2015

Intentionality is a key word for me.  And particularly this time of year as I'm trying to be intentional about all things Christmas:  decorating, shopping, but especially and most importantly, not losing focus on the reason for the season.

Christmas time is a time for looking up.  Look up and marvel at the starry expanse above you.  God came down from there!  God left His heaven in ...

That's what came to mind when I read the Today's Christian Woman's article on Joni Eareckson Tada. As I've struggled this past week with a potentially significant challenge, my eyes focused in on her response to the question about dealing with the difficulty of persevering through crisis:

When that happens, I remind myself of 1 Samuel 1, when Samuel put up a memorial, his Ebenezer, after the Philistine victory and proclaimed, "Thus far the LORD has helped us." I think about that all the time and tell myself, Thus far the Lord has helped me ...

Joni's Live It Out Birthday Campaign

  • Tuesday, October 13, 2015

You may have seen it -- a photo of a young man comforting a special needs man on a bus went viral this past week. The 21 year-old student, Godfrey Cuotto got on a crowded bus and a man sitting near the front reached out to shake his hand.  The Huffington Post reports that Cuotto was taken aback initially, but then he shook Robert's hand.

"He kept holding my hand," Cutto told the Huffington Post Canada. "He just needed comfort. Sometimes you just have to be selfless and put someone else's needs above yours."

It's a simple story ...
