Focusing on Our Savior

  • Monday, March 2, 2015

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

That was one of the themes of #NRB15 for me.

We've seen many changes in Christian radio through the years -- technology and delivery platforms have emerged, social media has come on the scene,  ministry organizations, speakers and industry leaders may have changed,  and yet, the most important element of the NRB remains the same - our steadfast commitment to sharing the saving message of Jesus Christ.

There were no more poignant reminders to me about this than the many moments Joni Eareckson Tada led a group of NRB attendees in ...

Hymns For A New Perspective

  • Monday, February 9, 2015

One of my favorite movies to watch with my youngest is Soul Surfer.  There's a particular scene about perspective which is a standout for both of us.

In this scene, Bethany Hamilton's youth group leader shows the students pictures and they have to guess what they are - the problem is, if they look at them while magnified, they appear to be something they aren't.  If you take a step back, get a new perspective, you can clearly see what the picture is in reality.

I'm working on a new perspective today as I'm challenged with ...

Making the Jesus’ Luke 14 Mandate a Reality

  • Monday, January 19, 2015

Thomas started attending our church a few weeks ago.  He sits a few rows over from where I sit.  We exchanged smiles a few times but I hesitated to greet him personally.

Here's the thing.  I didn't how to communicate with him.

Finally, after much prayer and some preparation, I decided it was time.

The Tradition of Christmas Carols

  • Monday, December 22, 2014

This was the year of Christmas songs for my family.

We started playing our Christmas song play list the first week of December and haven't stopped since.  We've added so many songs to the playlist this year - many duplicate songs but by different artists.

We've noted just how much music is a part of Christmas.  We hear the songs in the car, when shopping, at church and we were privileged to hear (and sing) them at Ambassador just a couple of weeks ago when Joni Eareckson Tada was in our studios.

In between recording "Joni and Friends® ...

Freedom in My Soul

  • Friday, November 21, 2014

I love the idea of journaling.

But I don't do it.

At least, I don't journal in the traditional sense.  I'll note certain moments in my journal, but I'll go days, sometimes  months, without an entry.

What I am pretty consistent about though is journaling the reflections of others.

I deeply appreciate and take to heart words from those who have traversed through valleys and have grown deeper in their walk with our heavenly Father as a result.

Joni Eareckson Tada is one of those sojourners to me and many others.  She spoke at the True ...

Save the Date: Joni's 65th Birthday Twitter Party

  • Monday, October 6, 2014

Things about the number 65 . . .

- 1965 was the debut year of the Ford Mustang and a new class of car, the Pony Car, was birthed (and, one of my favorite all time cars!).

- One of my favorite Bible verses is from Psalm 65, verse 2: "You who answer prayer."

And this year, there's another special significance to the number 65 -on October 15th, Joni Eareckson Tada celebrates her 65th birthday and we're all invited to join the celebration -- here's your invitation:

This year, Joni is celebrating her birthday on Twitter! On October 15, Joni's ...
