The Tuesday Girls!

  • Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Tuesday Girls Life Issues®In this day of political correctness in addressing women-the "Tuesday Girls" are proud to be just that!

For over 30 years, seven women have volunteered with Cincinnati Right to Life helping with mailings, calls and whatever else there is for them to do on a Tuesday each week.

Only two of the seven women now survive-two sisters-both in their 90s.

Today Brad Mattes honored the sisters on his Life Issues® radio program.  As they were working, just like they've done for 30 years, the Life Issues® program aired in their work room.  What a surprise to the "Tuesday Girls ...

Sharing the "good" message!

  • Monday, October 25, 2010

"Good" (hao) = Mother and ChildAs a child, I was forced to learn Chinese characters.  My parents told me that it would be "good for me." Little did I know what they really meant! Knowing some of the basic Chinese characters was beneficial not only for understanding the language, but it helped me understand the Chinese (and by extension the Korean) culture.

Baby lovedHave you ever felt unwanted, even unloved?  I have.  It's a painful and powerful emotion that is difficult to overcome.

Growing up, some cruel children said that I was adopted.  Although the accusers had no factual knowledge and were merely 'teasing me', I found myself very hurt by their words.  I wanted so badly to belong.  The very idea that no one wanted me wounded my heart.

Perhaps this is why I love that God calls me His child.  We all are children of God.  None of us, therefore, are unwanted or unloved.  God knows each of us by ...

Facing Life Head On

  • Thursday, August 12, 2010

Brad Mattes receiving Emmy AwardUnlike the Christian radio industry, good TV programming is hard to come by.  Rarely are shows thought provoking and engaging at the same time.  It's been my experience that most TV shows use sex, drugs, violence or special effects as their main story line.

Brad Mattes, host of both "Life Issues®" and "Facing Life Head On", however, knows how to do both radio and TV well.  As the executive director of the Life Issues® Institute Brad interviews individuals and families on topics like abortion, adoption, disabilities, medical technologies, stem cell treatments and end-of-life care, Brad fuses education with entertainment ...

"I'll Pray For You . . ."

  • Thursday, July 22, 2010

Child PrayingHave you ever promised to pray for someone . . . without following through?  I'll be the first to admit that I have.  Sometimes I forget.  Other times, I am in the middle of my own mini-life crisis and have enough problems of my own to pray for.  Most of the time, however, I know that saying "I'll pray for you" is the easy (or fast) way out of a difficult (or long) conversation.  Our lives will go on and the problem will eventually work itself out.

Recently, however, I started to wonder why I make promises to pray for ...
