We rang the sweet silver bells Wednesday as Joni and her team joined us at Ambassador for a day of yuletide jolly, merry recording, lunching and Christmas caroling!

It's always such a joy when Joni and Ken come to visit and this time was no exception. You may be dreaming of a white Christmas, but around here, we're shouting out with glee when Joni is able to come and deck our halls with her amazing spirit, beautiful voice and fast friendship.

I've always felt bad for the December babies, myself included.  Why?  Because our birthday presents and Christmas presents are often combined into one.  I feel especially awful for the people who share the exact birthday with Jesus for this reason!  This, of course, is a trivial thing to be sad about.  In fact, I am more joyful for the birth of Christ than anything else.  His life is the reason we are all here today.

It's my opinion that birthdays are a special time not only for the one celebrating the birthday, but also their friends and family ...

I've already received a Christmas gift - a timely gift of encouragement as Evelyn and I took a short trip up the road to hear Elizabeth George at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills.  She recently spoke to a full crowd of 1,800 women at their annual Christmas outreach.  Elizabeth's evangelistic message focused on Mary and the birth of Jesus, this indescribable gift!

They were the favorite novels of my childhood by far.  I think I read them at least 3 times each … and if you forced me to pick a favorite … I would pick The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  Maybe it’s because so much of the story takes place at sea, and I spent long summers as a child on my father’s ship or maybe it was because secretly I wanted to marry Ramundu's daughter (this was long before I met the fetching Amy Chamberlain, now Jacobsen).

Because we know so many of you have been praying for Jim and his wife Carol--we knew you'd want to hear this latest update. The Holidays can be such an incredibly joyful time, but also an incredibly difficult and painful time--especially when facing such hard life realities like those weighing on the Garlow household this season. I know Jim and Carol covet your prayers as they, in Jim's words, they "are NOT giving up.  Not at all...we are far from done fighting.  And, yes, we plan to win."
