Very few of us will ever experience the stopping of our hearts and live to tell the story! Brad Mattes, Director of the Life Issues^® Institute, is a rare exception! Although surgeons performed (successfully) major heart surgery on him only a month and a half ago, Brad is already on his feet. In fact, he's already recoded an episode of "Facing Life Head On" and is ahead of schedule for his daily radio feature, "Life Issues^®!" Thank you for your prayers!

What I wanted to share with you today is what Brad wrote a few days before the surgery ...

As the 10^th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, I find it providential that it falls on a Sunday. Many churches across the country are planning special services to reflect on that fateful event while provide comfort for those who continue to grieve.

I recall attending a prayer meeting at our church shortly after 9/11 and for several evenings in a row, the doors of the church remained open for those who sought counsel or to pray with someone.

For many of us who don't know how to observe such a memorable day, I think the best place ...

America changed on 9/11/01.  We were shocked and stunned that we weren't invincible, that terrorists could attack us on our soil.  It also made most of us think about our own mortality and our walk with God.  

In commemoration of the 10^th anniversary of that infamous day in our history, Emilie Barnes has dedicated the Keep It Simple program that airs on 9/9 to honor all we lost on 9/11.  She reminds us that the Lord is our comfort and only hope.
