When Communication Misfires

Carter-Conlon-Its-Time-to-PrayA friend of mine has a favorite quote by George Bernard Shaw.  It goes like this:

"The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place."

Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to painfully experience the truth of this statement while ordering dinner at Panda Express.  If you've been to Panda Express, you may know there's a way to order "one side dish" but really get two.  You just ask for "half this, half that."  In my case, I asked for half chow Mein, half fried rice.

Selah with Al & MargaretLast week, I celebrated my first work anniversary at Ambassador.  With that, I've been reflecting on all that's transpired in the past 12 months.  It's no small gift to begin a career at a reputable company and serve the Lord alongside good people like you ... especially right after college graduation.

My biggest fear was not being a good enough mom, making a mistake that would forever damage them.  God reminded me I just had to commit my children to Him, teach and train them in His ways, and be a Godly example. He had a plan for them, and I was to ...

Table Setters

Exactly one month ago, I walked across the stage of my university and received a diploma.  On that day, our Student Government Association team for the year encouraged the graduating seniors to leave the school as "table setters".  Table setters are those who, no matter where they are, provide a place of coming together and breaking bread- however that may look.  The table should be a place where we lay aside all differences and come together in community— as a true body of Christ.
