There I was, stranded.

I'd just picked up my daughter from school and the car wouldn't start.  A little help from the Auto Club and my mechanic and thankfully, my car was running again.

But, what about the unexpected challenges in life which do more than you leave you stranded?  What about the challenges that threaten your job, your marriage  . . . or your life?

A Different Kind of Baby Shower

I've attended a good number of baby showers through the years -- all in typical traditional fashion: invitations, light lunch, baby games and a glowing mother-to-be.

On an upcoming "Life Issues®" radio program, Brad Mattes shares about a not-so-typical baby shower as September 28th will mark the first-ever National Community Baby Shower!

Last April, the Pro-Life Aggies in Bryan, Texas, hosted a "Community Baby Shower," outside their local Walmart, asking shoppers to purchase diapers, wipes, formula, and baby items to give to the group so they could donate them to a local resource center for young parents. Over $700 ...

Getting Ready for the Empty Nest

High Cost of CollegeWell, it finally happened. 

This year, our youngest finally left the nest.  If you've also had your last child migrate to face the cold cruel world, you'll agree that these are strange days, for sure.  And not without a bit of trepidation.  Our daughter is attending one of the most liberal universities in the country.  They were a catalyst for the free speech movement in the '60's and continue to proudly wear their badge of open-mindedness.

When she was accepted to the school, I was thrilled!  After five children, I'd grown to dread the junior year ...
