The Best ADVENTure

Max Lucado - In the MangerGrowing up, one of my favorite things about the holidays was counting down the days until Christmas.  The best part was using my chocolate Advent calendar from Trader Joe's.  Each morning, my sisters and I compared our chocolate pieces, discussed which cardboard compartment was veiling the candy that day, and cast our predictions for the next day's Christmas candy shape.

This year, I counted down in a new way.  I journeyed through Max Lucado's In the Manger, which is both an Advent devotional and the emphasis for Max's daily feature, "UpWords®", this month.  Daily, Max shared ...

New Song "Reach Beyond" with Phil Stacey

Reach Beyond SongPhil Stacey and Chris August have collaborated on the just-released song, "Reach Beyond."  This tune serves as an anthem for all believers who recognize that Jesus reached beyond heaven's glory to this broken world -- and the responsibility we have to reach beyond to others with His message of forgiveness, grace and redemption.

Christmas Joy

One of my favorite parts about Christmas are the Christmas cards.   I love receiving them  . . . looking at the family pictures, catching up on lives of friends and loved ones.  I also enjoy reading the holiday sentiments.

Wishes of joy is a common sentiment.

After noticing a number of cards with virtually the same phrase, "Wishing you peace and joy this Christmas season," my daughter wondered why "Wishing you joy" was used more than "Wishing you happiness."

In the "Daily Light for Daily Living®" feature airing on December 17th, Anne Graham Lotz explains the difference between joy and happiness:
