In 1948: Florence Hubbard of Chicago won $22,000 in prizes for identifying Jack Benny as "The Walking Man." The 10-week radio promotion raised $1.5-million for the American Heart Association.

Today is...

Headache Relief Day, marking the patenting of aspirin on this date in 1899. On the same day, the Bayer Company trademarked the name aspirin for the medicine developed by German chemist Friedrich Hoffman.
