In 1885: Mark Twain's ''Adventures of Huckleberry Finn'' was published.

Today is...

Pluto Day. The ninth planet, no longer accepted as a planet by some, was discovered on this date in 1930 by astronomer Clyde Tombaugh at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. It was named for the Roman god of the underworld, which of course was named for Mickey Mouse's dog.
